About
The Dr. Lori Holleran Steiker Art Contest honors the legacy of Lori Holleran Steiker, Ph.D., ACSW, a beloved professor, mentor, and advocate who profoundly impacted the fields of social work, addiction recovery, and community wellness. Dr. Holleran Steiker served as the Steve Hicks Professor of Addiction, Recovery, and Substance Use Services at the University of Texas at Austin, where her work in addiction recovery and community resilience left an indelible mark on the university and far beyond.
This award is designed to support emerging artists and students who utilize their creativity to address themes of mental health, recovery, and resilience—core values exemplified by Dr. Holleran-Steiker throughout her life. By establishing this memorial award, we honor her enduring spirit and dedication to nurturing compassion, resilience, and community among future generations of students.
